GEO. POWELL & CO. : WALLACE TONIC STOMACH BITTERS

Geo. Powell was the proprietors, manufacturers and wholesale dealers in West's and Wallace's family medicines. The company was located at 141 East Kinzie Street Chicago, Illinois. I am not sure when the company was started but I have found advertisements as early as 1870. Below are photos of one of the four variants. This one is embossed WALLACE'S TONIC // STOMACH BITTERS (L &W on base).

The other variants are WALLACE'S TONIC // STOMACH BITTERS (ZKH & CO on base), WALLACE'S TONIC / STOMACH BITTERS // GEO. POWELL & CO. / CHICAGO. ILL and WALLACE'S TONIC // STOMACH BITTERS // GEO. POWELL & CO (with a line on the O) / CHICAGO ILL (with a line after the L).

Other products this company produced were WEST'S LIQUID BLUEING, WEST HAIR OILS and COLOGNES.
