WINE BOTTLE : GERMAN FOLK ART VASE

Here is a piece of German Folk Art which my mother purchased in the 1950s near the Black Hills in Germany. This piece is made out of a green wine bottle which has had the neck of the bottle cut down. There is a paper label picture of two houses with a green mountainous background which is glue onto the front of the bottle. The bottle has been coated with a substance which resembles tree bark. It looks and feels so real that when I was a young lad I always thought it was real bark. Pieces of real wood have been added to look like knots on the bark. There also is a Christmas tree, deer, polished stones and mushrooms which has been secured to the bottle. Below are photos of this Folk Art Vase the height is 10 inches. Through the years of antiquing at shops and malls I have seen other example of this kind of German Folk Art. All which are one of a kind.
