Listed in the Charleston Directory from 1886 is a Koppel Kurnitzki as a Tonic Manufacture located at 30-32 Market Street. By 1890 the spelling of his last name changes to Kurnistki and now is listed as a Whole Sale Distributor of Tobacco and Cigars. Wire Grass is a Native grass to South Carolina and elsewhere.
