F. BROWN'S: SARSAPARILLA AND TOMATO BITTERS: BOSTON MASS.

brown tomato bitters lable

Sometime around 1840 Frederick Brown was a druggist and apothecary and was located at the corner of Washington and State Streets in Boston, Massachusetts. Brown would advertised that this product did not contain any alcohol and was based on “Spanish Sarsaparilla” and “Extract of Tomato”.

Brown must have died in the late 1860s. A Capt. John P. T. Percival along with J. O. French bought the business from Frederick Brown which was located at the corner of Washington and State Streets. In 1869 Mr. French sold out to Mr Percival in the spring of 1869.
