WILLIS SAWEN : LIFE INVIGORATING BITTERS & HOP & IRON BITTERS In the early 1870s Willis and Gilbert S. Sawen were wholesale and retail druggists located at 171 Genesee St. in Utica, New York. The company at that time was called Dr. W. Sawens & Co. The firm would be relocated in 1878 to 183 Genesee St. By 1886 Gilbert was no longer listed as part of the Dr. W. Sawens & Co. The firms name would change in 1886 to Dr. Sawens Medical Company. Below is a photo of their DR. SAWEN'S / LIFE / INVIGORATING BITTERS // UTICA, N. Y. This bitters claimed to be a dyspeptic remedy and blood purifier. Below are photos of two of their HOP AND IRON BITTERS // UTICA, N. Y. one is a little taller than the other.
